As Josh is 6 months old today, Craig and I thought we would post a more detailed description of his latest news and accomplishments...
Josh continues to be a fairly easygoing baby. He smiles and giggles often, especially when big brother Jake pays any attention to him at all--whether he brings Josh a toy to play with or throws a stuffed ball at his face, Josh just beams. He stares at Jake as much as possible, taking in everything his brother does. And like his brother, Josh also loves being outside--a few pushes on the swing or a trip down the slide at the park across the street is sure to bring a wide grin to his face.
Josh is sitting up pretty steadily now (every now and then Craig tests his balance by trying to push him over, but Josh holds strong), and his first tooth (bottom front left) has just cut through! His sleeping is getting better and better the older he gets, and he's even been giving us some 12 hour nights here and there (6-ish to 6-ish)! What a difference a good night sleep makes.
Josh is very cuddly, and there's certainly lots of him to love. While he hasn't had an official weigh-in recently, we're guessing his current weight is probably hovering around 19 pounds, and that he's likely somewhere close to 28 inches long. (We'll see how close these estimates are at his 6-month check up next week.) He's eating 2 solid food meals a day, including such delicacies as rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, pears, apples, bananas, sweet potatoes and peas. I've learned to be prepared with double portions of whatever I'm serving, as Jake insists on eating whatever baby food Josh is eating, too!
I'm thankful that Josh is nowhere near crawling just yet, as I'm not sure how I'm going to keep track of both boys once they're both mobile. Even with only one on the move, I'm always ready to sink into the couch once they're tucked into their cribs in the evening. As tired as they keep me, both Josh and Jake make me smile and laugh every day. Truly.
